Taylor

Taylor Swift was a rarity in pop culture: she was the sole celebrity who transitioned from the traditional to the mainstream and then to be a pop icon worldwide. Swift left country music like it was a second layer, showing that she's possibly the best pop-singer/songwriter in her generation. A person who has the ability to tap into the zeitgeist to make it personal as well as sing in the other direction. It was apparent from her first songs, especially in her neo pay homage of Tim McGraw. On her album Fearless (2008), Swift showed a songwriter getting to understand herself. The album was able to have significant reach not just in the U.S. where it racked up six platinum singles due to the Top Ten hits Love Story and the hit single You Belong with Me but throughout the world performing particularly well within the U.K. Canada and Australia. Swift's next album, Speak Now, released nearly two years following the previous one, built on this momentum. The album propelled Swift to superstardom. With the three subsequent albums the three albums that followed -- Red 2012 1989 2014, as well as Reputation 2017, her popularity only increased. This was a sure indication that she was in a new pop world where she fit in. Even though she had slowed the production of her folklore album, and Evermore released in 2020, she was still in the forefront of pop music.
